Tip 1: Avoid giving an answer related to illness, rehabilitation or unemployment, even if any of these are because of a recession it could be seen as high risk to an interviewer.

Tip 2: Remember to remain honest, while they may not deny you over the gap, they just might for being dishonest. If you got laid off, say so.

Tip 3: Nervous about providing an answer? Just keep in mind this is a great chance to build on the trust of the employer, relax and be honest.
